ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG COUNSELOR/EDUCATOR

The Counseling Center at SUNY Oneonta invites applications for the position of Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor/Educator. This is an eleven-month, full time position. Reporting to the Director of Counseling, expectations include working as part of a multidisciplinary team providing treatment, crisis counseling, and prevention services regarding mental health and AOD concerns to students of the College.
Duties include but not limited to: providing assessment and short-term treatment or referral for students of the College, specializing in students who have or are at risk for AOD abuse problems; serving as educator and consultant to students, faculty, and staff regarding alcohol and drug related topics; developing and implementing outreach programming; administering educational program to students who violate the campus AOD policy; providing leadership to the campus in regard to AOD issues. Required Qualifications: Masterís degree in counseling-related field; mental health licensure in NY, or license-eligible; two years of closely related counseling experience; and at least one year providing substance abuse treatment.
Preferred: clinical experience providing screening and short-term treatment or referral for clients (including clients with AOD abuse problems); experience with developing and presenting educational or prevention programming; work experience in a higher education setting; state or national AOD certification in counseling or prevention; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
