Position Description
The University of Mary Washington Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) invites applications for a 9-month/40 hours a weekMental Health Coordinator and Staff Counselor. Responsibilities for this position will be split equally between counseling and case management, including but not limited to, brief individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention and case management for full-time undergraduate students with multi-faceted and complex needs. The position entails providing follow-up for referrals for students with emotional challenges, behavioral difficulties and/or chronic mental health conditions which impact their ability to function/succeed academically. The candidate will develop relationships with local community resources and establish follow-up procedures for students who are seen by the UMW Behavioral Intervention Team. Candidates will also provide some outreach and consultation to the UMW community.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Required qualifications include:
License as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of VA, or eligible for licensure upon hire. Masterís Degree from an accredited counseling or social work program.
Experience working with a college student population, providing individual and group counseling, broad generalist skills with a variety of DSM IV diagnoses, strong crisis intervention and case management skills; able to develop collaborative relationships with providers in the community.
