Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Specialist

The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD)Specialist will provide direction and leadership for alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention, intervention and education services and will promote healthy lifestyle choices for the campus community. In addition, he/she will coordinate AOD services offered through Counseling and Psychological Services with other campus offices and community agencies. Finally, he/she will provide direct clinical intervention services.
Serves as the primary campus resource for substance abuse related issues.
Utilizes assessment and best practices to develop and implement an exemplary substance abuse and intervention program for students.
Provides substance abuse prevention and intervention training and consultation to staff, faculty and students.
Manages and administers the psycho-educational components of the mandated Alcohol Sanctions course.
Prioritizes and applies resources to substance abuse related programs.
Develops a comprehensive network of referral sources for students who require or prefer off-campus substance abuse treatment.
Provides consultation service to administrators, faculty and students on substance abuse related issues.
Provides individual counseling in areas of:
Personal, educational, interpersonal relationships, family, social problems, and substance issues.
Provides on-call services after hours (on a rotation) for crisis/and or emergency situations
Keeps accurate and timely chart notes on individual sessions (AOD and clinical) in the Titanium Schedule program
1. A Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Health Education, or Social Work is required.
2. CAP (Certified Addictions Professional) certificate is required.
3. 1-3 years of experience as a treatment specialist is required.
4. Intermediate computer skills and experience using the Titanium Scheduling program is a requirement
5. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Must have the ability to develop AOD prevention programs and conduct workshops and seminars.
