Director of The Counseling center (Search Re-opened)
Valdosta State University
Responsible for the overall administration and coordination of the resources and activities of the Counseling Center, including counseling/ therapy, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and preventive mental health activities.
With the staff, develops and implements the philosophy, policies, and procedures of counseling services operations.
Responsible for coordination, recruitment, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of staff.
Responsible for the preparation and administration of budgets; grants; submission of annual reports; preparation of reports and documents representing the needs of the Center and the mental health needs of the university community.
Provides crisis intervention, referrals, counseling/therapy, outreach, and consultation services to the University.
Represents the Center and educates the University in its response to mental health related issues and in maintaining an environment conducive to healthy growth and development.
Responsible for the administration of evaluation and accountability research procedures and processes that monitor the quality of counseling/clinical services rendered by the Center and that improve the quality of these services.
Serves on university committees and job searches and provides support to Student Affairs and University Departments.
An earned doctorate in Counseling/Clinical Psychology or related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years increasingly responsible experience within a Counseling Center in a college or university setting.
Licensure as a mental health professional in the State of Georgia. If not licensed in Georgia, must obtain Georgia license in six months.
A commitment to providing direct client services to diverse populations, as well as consultation and outreach services.
Experience in clinical supervision and staff training.
Experience in the evaluation of Counseling Center clinical services and programs.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional experience in an IACS accredited Counseling Center
Valdosta State University is a public regional institution with approximately 13,000 students located in south central Georgia. Degrees are offered in Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral programs.
The University is located in Valdosta, a city of approximately 55,000. It can easily be reached from three exits off I-75 and is convenient to shopping areas, a variety of restaurants and other attractions. The Valdosta area is served by the Valdosta Municipal Airport and by the airports in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida. The two campuses, located less than a mile apart, include more than 168 acres of land.
