Position Description:
The Counseling & Testing Center at the University of Idaho is offering a full-time, 12-month, non-recurring post-doctoral fellowship. It is designed for the individual who is interested in working in a college or university counseling center and would like an opportunity to solidify existing counseling/therapy skills, learn new competencies, integrate their identity as a psychologist and receive appropriate supervised experiences to facilitate obtaining licensure as a psychologist. There will be opportunity to work with a wide range of diagnostic issues and experience the full range of direct and indirect services offered by a university counseling center.

Responsibilities and duties include providing individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, and outreach services to University of Idaho students. In addition, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to select one or more areas of specialization. Possible specialty areas include: Learning disability/ADHD assessment, biofeedback training, outreach and consultation, substance abuse, veterans’ services, and training. Other duties include completion of appropriate documentation of activities and participation in department and division initiatives, meetings, and trainings.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of doctoral internship prior to starting date
• Earned PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology (ABD considered)
• Experience conducting individual counseling with adults

Preferred Qualifications:
• APA accredited doctoral program and/or internship
• Completed doctoral degree
• Internship in college or university counseling center
• Experience in college or university counseling centers
• Experience in crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, substance abuse, and psychoeducational assessment
• Demonstrated commitment to multicultural competency

Counseling & Testing Center
The University of Idaho Counseling & Testing Center (CTC), a unit of the Division of Student Affairs, offers students access to a wide range of services and resources including individual, couples and group counseling, crisis intervention, alcohol and substance abuse counseling, stress management and biofeedback counseling, consultation and outreach services, learning disability and ADHD comprehensive assessments as well as psychiatric services. Students come to the CTC with a broad range of concerns ranging from adjustment and developmental issues to complex psychological problems and crises. Students vary in age from late adolescence to mid-life and beyond. We utilize a brief treatment framework though some clients are seen longer term based on client and training needs. The CTC is committed to offering services that are inclusive and respectful of all students and to developing multicultural competence in all faculty, staff, and trainees.

The CTC is staffed by seven full-time licensed psychologists and a board certified psychiatrist. We offer a doctoral internship training program in psychology and have been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 2006. The CTC also provides practicum training for 6 to 10 graduate students each year.
