Position Description
The Vassar College Counseling Service is seeking two psychological
counselors for limited term appointments for the 2013/2014 academic
year. The Counseling Service provides creative, collaborative clinical
service in a small, residential, liberal arts college environment. The
successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and
ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and will be
skilled in consultation, brief therapy models, group therapy and in
providing innovative, inclusive outreach programming. S/h/ze must be
able both to work independently, and cooperatively as a member of a
professional team.

Principal Duties:
Intake and clinical assessment; crisis intervention and triage
including on call rotation; brief individual psychotherapy; group
therapy; consultation with campus and community members;
design/presentation of training programs for students/staff; and
outreach programming. This is an administrative position with a
strong, primary emphasis on innovative service delivery. Some evening
and weekend hours should be expected, especially involving crisis
intervention and outreach activities.

This position is full-time for the 2013/2014 academic year (August 15,
2013 - June 15, 2014). This position is eligible for Vassar College

Minimum Qualifications
APA approved, PhD, PsyD, EdD in clinical or counseling psychology or
clinical social worker LCSW, MSW or DSW. Position requires broad,
generalist clinical skills, including experience assessing and
intervening with a range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of

Desired Qualifications
Licensed or license-eligible status in New York is
preferred. Supervision for licensure will be provided if needed. Brief
therapy and group facilitation experience in a college/university
counseling center is preferred. Expertise in one or more of the
following areas is highly desirable: Eating disorders, trauma,
multicultural and sexual identity concerns.
