Position Description
The TWU Counseling Center is looking for an enthusiastic, competent and energetic Postdoctoral Resident for a one year appointment on the Denton campus. This position is a supervised experience toward licensure. The Postdoctoral Resident is under the general supervision of the Director and/or Assistant Director of the Counseling Center. This individual would engage in general university counseling center psychologist roles and duties including: intakes, individual/couples/group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical supervision of interns and/or practicum students as appropriate and assigned, and outreach/consultation to the campus community. This individual will also be a participant in the Supervision of Supervision seminar as a supervisor for practicum students as well as to receive ongoing training on supervision.

The Postdoctoral Resident will be provided with one hour of weekly individual supervision by a licensed psychologist and one hour of group therapy supervision, in addition to the 2 hours of group supervision in Supervision of Supervision. This individual will also have the opportunity for ongoing professional development via participation in the weekly Professional Issues Seminar. Two hours of licensure preparation will be allowed in the Postdoctoral Resident’s schedule. Along with ongoing feedback from multiple supervisors, a written evaluation will be provided at the midpoint and end of the postdoctoral year. Each Postdoctoral Resident will choose a Special Emphasis Area for their year, to be negotiated with their supervisor. Examples include co-teaching a graduate psychology class, co-facilitating & supervising a doctoral intern in group therapy, multicultural competence/diversity, outreach liaisonship or other areas of interest.

TWU’s Denton Counseling Center staff is currently composed of a director, an assistant director/director of training, 4 psychologists, 3 psychology interns (APA-accredited internship program), 4 practicum students, and 2 administrative staff. The TWU Counseling Center provides services which help students to achieve their educational goals, to learn the process of problem solving and decision making, to develop the capacity for satisfying relationships, and to make full use of their potential for continued growth beyond their educational experience. It is the only campus agency designated to provide psychological services solely to students. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology and completion of a doctoral internship in a university counseling center.

Desired Qualifications
Desired Qualifications: Additional counseling center experience, provision of clinical supervision, and group therapy experience. An overall active interest and knowledge of college counseling services and a strong commitment to multicultural competence and women/gender issues is preferred.
