Salary Range
The stipend available for this postdoctoral residency position is $30,000 for 12 months. Funds for professional development opportunities are also available. Benefits include those associated with all full-time, benefit-eligible employees at NAU. Position Description
This is a benefits-eligible 12-month, non-recurring position. Dates of the position are 8/12/13 – 8/8/14.

Postdoctoral residents offer direct counseling services to NAU undergraduate and graduate students via brief individual, couples, and group counseling. They also will provide daytime crisis services, and participate in evening/weekend emergency on-call rotation.

Direct services include initial assessment, crisis and on-call emergency coverage, mandated behavioral assessments, ongoing individual and couples counseling, group screenings/therapy, clinical consultation and outreach presentations. Evening/weekend emergency on-call duty is assigned 2-3 times/semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) for one week at a time. One week of duty earns 8 hours of compensatory time, which the resident will use in lieu of working one 8 hour workday in the same week as the on-call duty (to assure the resident is not working more than 40 hours total in that week).

Support Activities include clinical planning and documentation, outreach and organizational consultation, and professional development activities.

Training Activities include receiving individual supervision, attending Case and Psychiatric consultation meetings, and professional development opportunities (e.g., online continuing education, attending local and state conferences and workshops).

Minimum Qualifications
Satisfaction of all academic requirements for the doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
Ability to actively engage in clinical practice with university students in ongoing counseling, crisis intervention and outreach programming

Desired Qualifications
Experience in a college or university counseling center
Experience documenting clinical work in an electronic health record
Demonstrated competency with multicultural and other diverse populations.
Knowledge of college student development theories and practice
Ability to manage a very full caseload within a time-limited clinical setting
Ability to work with people from a variety of cultural and other diverse backgrounds.

NAU is a state university with a student population of 17,500 on campus and 5,000 students through distance learning programs.

Region Description
The NAU campus is located at 7000 feet elevation at the foot of the San Francisco Peaks, 140 miles north of Phoenix, and 74 miles south of the Grand Canyon.
