The Post-Masterís Fellowship is designed to prepare individuals for a staff position in a University Counseling Center, with particular emphasis on Counselors or Social Workers wishing to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Fellowship is designed to meet partial requirements for licensure in the State of North Carolina. Clinical Supervision will be provided. The Fellowship begins July 1, 2013 and ends June 30, 2014.
One Year, full-time, 12 month position as Post Masterís Fellow with responsibility to assist in all areas of Counseling Center functioning including:
a) Individual and group counseling of NC State students/clients (personal, academic, and vocational assessment and counseling); psychological assessment; developmental and crisis counseling; couples counseling; evaluation of students for withdrawal from the University.
b) Development and participation in Outreach programming
c) Consultation with faculty staff, parents, and others
d) Providing evaluations and recommendations regarding students with academic & conduct problems
e) Participation in after hours ďon callĒ and possible evening office hours
f) General administrative responsibilities
This position may involve participation in supervision/training of graduate students and program evaluation. Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from accredited Masterís Program in Counseling or Social Work and completion of an Internship or Field Placement at a University Counseling Center or equivalent clinical experience. Also, demonstrated progress in application for licensure within applicantís discipline.
Established commitment to multicultural competencies. Candidate must have had prior clinical experience (during Training is sufficient) and experience in assessing for risk and managing crises. Strong interpersonal skills required.
Experience in a University Counseling Center is desirable. Preference for candidates who are generalists with experience utilizing a time-limited model of care. Preference for candidates who have experience and strong interest in providing outreach presentations and group work.
