$30,000 plus benefits (11 month work contract)
The Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship a full-time 11-month position. (August through June.) It is our intent to provide an entry-level professional with the post-degree supervision and experience necessary for licensure as a psychologist in Pennsylvania. (Note: Pennsylvania requires 1500 hours.)
The fellow will gain further experience providing the following services:
individual, and possibly group and couples counseling
crisis intervention/urgent counseling, after hours on-call
assessment (Primarily for learning disabilities and ADHD)
consultation to the college community
supervision and training for graduate students
additional administrative duties or other assignments as appropriate for the trainees interests and the needs of the College and Center
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offer direct psychotherapy services to student clients including intake, urgent walk-in, individual, group and couples counseling
Routine evening and occasional weekend hours required. After hours on-call every other week
Secondary clinical supervision of advanced doctoral level practicum trainees
Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and schedule within Titanium Schedule
Participate in weekly staff meetings
Develop collaborative relationships with various campus organizations (e.g. Student Health, Athletics, Residence Life, Disability Support Services, and Global Education Programs)
Offer consultation to faculty, staff, and family members
Develop and implement outreach programs and workshops designed to foster students academic and life success
Participate in collection of accurate client data
Participate in college-wide or division-wide meetings as appropriate
Completed Doctoral Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program prior to the start date
Completed accredited pre-doctoral internship, ideally in a college or university counseling center
No post-doctoral or post degree experience required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
Experience in a university/college counseling center
Evidence of skill in addressing psychiatric emergencies
Evidence of interest or experience in offering consultation to faculty, staff and students
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills
Demonstrable experience in and commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, and commitment to ongoing development of multicultural competence
A self-motivated and self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, and knowledge of/adherence to legal guidelines and APA Ethical standards.
Demonstrated professional commitment and interest in university counseling center work and college student development
Expertise in one or more of the following treatment areas: anxiety management, substance abuse, anger management, eating disorders, provision of services to population with diverse needs.
Founded in 1781 and located about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Washington & Jefferson College is one of the nations oldest and most distinguished co-ed, four-year liberal arts colleges for undergraduate students. Washington & Jefferson is a small College and generally has an enrollment of approximately 1500 students.
W&J is located in the city of Washington, Washington County, in Southwestern Pennsylvania at the crossroads of Interstates 70 and 79 and Route 19. The surrounding area is rural, while the city of Pittsburgh is easily accessible.
