Position Description
The Assistant Director of Training Services is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the APA-accredited doctoral internship training program in professional psychology; administration and maintenance of psychology post-doctoral training program; coordinating all training programs and activities so as to maintain the quality and integrity of the training experience for all levels of trainees, and to ensure that the training programs serve the primary mission of CHDC, which is to provide mental health services to USC students in need.
He/she will have oversight of all other training programs at the Counseling & Human Development Center, including Counselor Education training in conjunction with Coordinator of this training program, and Social Work training in conjunction with Coordinator of this training program, to include direct administrative supervision of these two CHDC staff. He/she will provide direct clinical services to graduate and undergraduate students within the clinic of CHDC, and as requested under the framework of Community Based Services. This position includes other duties as assigned by the Director. The psychologist will practice in accordance with the ethics promulgated by the American Psychological Association, state law and licensing regulations, and departmental guidelines and policies.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and 5 years professional experience. Licensed or eligible for a license as a psychologist in the State of South Carolina.

Desired Qualifications
Clinical Degree - Earned doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program, including internship completed at an APA accredited doctoral internship program.
Clinical & Administrative Experience - Minimum five years of experience as a Licensed Psychologist, at least two of which were in a college/university counseling center setting within the past 5 years, with demonstrated evidence of increasing supervisory/administrative responsibilities over time, and demonstrated evidence of increasing involvement with supervision and training activities.
License Status - State licensed as a psychologist in any state for a minimum of 5 years. License eligible in South Carolina, with South Carolina psychologist license to be obtained within six months from hire date. Demonstrated abilities to engage in critical thinking, to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information, to function as a self-starter, to communicate effectively in written and oral form, to be highly organized. Demonstrated strong generalist competencies across a broad range of presenting concerns, including but not limited to mood disorders, adjustment disorders, eating concerns, substance abuse concerns, trauma, sexual assault, sexual orientation/identity concerns, and various developmental concerns of college students. Performs clinical duties and responsibilities independently. As a clinician, exercises appropriate independence and discretion with respect to care and treatment, but must ensure care, services, and treatments comply with accepted standards of practice, accreditation standards, and applicable law and regulations. As a University employee, must comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and directives to include, but not limited to, Student Health Services policies and procedures, the Health Center Medical Staff By-Laws, and those issued by supervisors. Demonstrated ability to effectively treat and case manage students with severe mental illness. Demonstrated area of clinical specialization, to include any of the following: substance abuse, eating disorders, mood disorders, men’s issues, sexual assault and trauma, multicultural populations and concerns. Demonstrated advanced skills in the provision of individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Commitment to the goal of the evidenced based practice of psychology. Demonstrated skills in the provision of supervision to trainees. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative partnership as a member of an interdependent team of professionals representing a broad range of professional and personal backgrounds within a large university counseling service that is fully integrated within the Student Health Service. Familiarity with Point & Click or similar electronic health record system. Demonstrated multicultural competence, with the ability to work effectively with a broadly diverse student population. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a large and clinically diverse caseload within the context of a busy college counseling center. Fluency in a second language (in addition to English) strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to provide effective administrative leadership in the development, provision, and management of clinical training programs for trainees in the fields of psychology, social work, and professional counseling, to include effective administrative supervision and oversight of assigned service providers and program coordinators. Demonstrated ability to forge strong collaborative working relationships with a broad range of campus and community partners.
