The Associate Director of Psychological and Health Services primary role is to assist the Director of Psychological and Health Services in providing leadership with regard to prevention, intervention, education and assessment in the areas of psychological services, psychiatric services, health promotion and health services. The position will serve as the primary designee of the Director of Psychological and Health Services for the Counseling and Testing Center, Student Health Clinic, Psychiatric Services, and Health Promotion. The position will provide leadership in meeting the needs of students with acute and chronic health concerns, prevention and will coordinate the CTC’s risk screening program for students of concern. The position will serve on the Division of Student Affairs Student of Concern Team along with the Director, and will provide leadership in the risk screening process for student of concern as well as consultation to campus partners regarding students whose behavior poses a threat to either their own safety or the safety of the campus community. He or she will coordinate assessment of programs and services in the Psychological and Health Services areas. This psychologist may supervise interns in the APA accredited doctoral internship program or fellows in the APPIC post-doctoral fellowship. The position will assist the Director with other duties as required.
*Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from APA accredited program
*Must be licensed as psychologist in the State of Georgia or must be able to transfer current license to the State of Georgia within 90 days of start date
*Must have 3 years of experience as psychologist, post licensure
*Working knowledge of threat assessment and threat management theory and practice and experience in assessment and management of cases involving harm to self and others, preferably in a higher education environment.
*Demonstrated ability to review and interpret clinical assessments and formulated interventions to minimize risk of violence or self-harm , to provide crisis intervention and response, case management and counseling in crisis settings as well as information and appropriate referrals.
*Working knowledge of assessment of substance abuse and treatment and prevention with university populations.
*Working knowledge of strategies for prevention of sexual assault on university campuses.
*Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive education programs around topics related to students of concerns for varied audiences.
*Experience providing psychological services to diverse populations
*Experience in a university mental health settings providing counseling to students
Georgia State University is a diverse urban research institution of approximately 33,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Approximately 4,000 students live on campus.
Georgia State University is located in downtown Atlanta GA. Atlanta is located approximately 4 hours from the Georgia coast, Savannah GA and approximately 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
