The University of Kentucky Counseling Center (UKCC) seeks a dynamic professional to serve as a Care Coordinator/Crisis Clinician to work in collaboration with clinicians at UKCC to ensure continuity of care for at-risk UK students. Responsibilities include providing intake/diagnostic assessment; triage services; short-term, structured symptom-management groups; brief individual counseling services when appropriate; case management for clients presenting with complex, multi-faceted needs; and referrals for students who struggle with emotional challenges, behavioral difficulties, limited resources, and/or chronic mental health conditions impact their ability to function/succeed academically.
This position requires excellence in clinical case management; the ability to provide clinical services including crisis coverage and emergency intervention (including hospitalization); ability to create and sustain liaisons with on-campus and external referrals; comprehensive, holistic treatment planning; and the coordination of care for UKCC clients.
Minimum qualifications are MSW with 3 years of relevant experience and credential-eligible as LCSW in Kentucky, or clinical/counseling psychologist eligible for doctoral-level license in Kentucky.
Ideal candidates will be good at developing liaison relationships. Any familiarity with local referral resources is a bonus. Strong candidates will be comfortable with hospitalization protocols and helping individuals deal creatively with limited resources (e.g., food, housing, transportation, $ for more intensive treatment, financial aid for school, etc.). Traits such as conscientiousness and being good with follow-up are important. Also, the ability to maintain a calm and helpful demeanor in crisis situations is an asset.
Our Counseling Center seeks individuals who are collaborative in nature, have strong communication skills, practice good self-care, maintain healthy boundaries, and possess the ability to manage a challenging workload while promoting a positive atmosphere and collegial relationships.
