Position Description
Note: We are extending and re-advertising our job posting for Associate Director/Director of Clinical Services. The Counseling Center is seeking an experienced clinician with an administrative bent, but who will also have a hand in direct service, training, and supervision. There is no inside candidate. Our Center is very well supported by the University administration – we’ve never had a budget cut and have added positions over the last few years - along with having 3 retirements last year which have been filled. We have a very supportive and collegial staff, very invested in training, and in collaborating with each other and other university departments.

This Associate Director is a member of the Center’s administrative team and provides administrative leadership for the management of all aspects of the Center’s clinical services and the general oversight of all clinical staff. S/he will be responsible for the development, revision, and maintenance of Center policies and procedures, including integration of relevant federal and state law and professional ethics codes. This person also serves as the point person for all incoming clinical concerns, requests for records, and consultation with Center psychiatric staff as needed for coordination of care. S/he will assume leadership in the absence of the Director. S/he will provide culturally sensitive individual, group, couples, career counseling, and crisis intervention over a broad range of mental health concerns. S/he will provide individual and group supervision to doctoral trainees and unlicensed post-doctoral staff. S/he will also participate in Student Services activities pertinent to student well-being, including serving on University committees and other duties as assigned by the Director. Work hours are 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program/internship, a license (or be license eligible) as a psychologist in Michigan, and a minimum of three (3) years post-licensure experience in a university counseling center. Candidates must have administrative and supervisory experience and demonstrate strong clinical, management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills along with a commitment to diversity and multicultural competence.

Desired Qualifications
Preferred minimum of five (5) years post-licensure experience. Experience in university counseling center administrative activities, supervision, training, and multicultural initiatives/projects. Experience in a counseling center providing an APA accredited psychology internship is also desired.
