Position Description
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) seeks an Advanced Mental Health Residents to join the staff of University Counseling Services in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services at our Monroe Park Campus location. General duties also include intake assessment, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis work, and consultation with university faculty and staff.

Preference will be given to strong generalists who demonstrate experience and interest in: Outreach and treatment to the LGBTQ population.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology (ABD in psychology also permitted): or a MSW degree. Completion of a supervised internship or work equivalent experience in a university counseling center or related professional setting. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary counseling center team, work independently and multicultural competence. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong interpersonal skills.

University Counseling Services has an APA-accredited pre-doctoral intern training program. The multidisciplinary staff of UCS includes twelve full-time clinicians, one full time psychiatrist, and a graduate training staff drawing from the disciplines of psychology, social work, and psychiatry. VCU is an urban university of 30,000 students located on two campuses in the capital city of Richmond, VA.
