Position Description
The Counseling and Psychological Services Department (CAPS) at The University of Hartford has a vacancy for a full-time 10-month staff psychologist/AOD specialist beginning August 2013. Primary responsibilities include: providing substance abuse assessment, counseling, education and preventative programming (which may occur after-hours); providing general psychological evaluation and treatment for individuals, couples, and groups; conducting crisis evaluations and providing crisis interventions; supervising and training graduate student trainees.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include: a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology; licensure as a psychologist in Connecticut; expertise in the treatment of alcohol and other drug related disorders; previous clinical experience with a college-age population (preferably within a college counseling center).
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include: proficiency in providing brief, focused, and evidence-based treatment interventions; a thorough understanding of the developmental challenges facing a college-age population; strong oral presentation skills; and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
