Position Description
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director provides overall leadership for Counseling Services on the campus of Georgia’s Public Liberal Arts University. The Director’s role includes training and supervising six full-time mental health professionals; providing direct service counseling and psychotherapy to students in individual, couple, and group settings to facilitate their adjustment and mental health; providing consultation to university personnel and others regarding students of concern; establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with campus departments; serving as a senior member of the Student Affairs leadership team; providing training to students, faculty, and staff regarding the developmental and mental health needs of students; developing and leading structured groups, workshops, presentations, and other counseling outreach programming; and encouraging the development of a supportive campus environment.

Minimum Qualifications

- Earned doctorate in a mental health field.
- Must currently hold a Georgia license for professional practice in a mental health
specialty (professional counseling, social work, marriage & family therapy, psychology,
psychiatry, or psychiatric nurse-practice). If licensed in a state other than Georgia,
must obtain Georgia license within three months from date of hire.
- Advanced clinical training in counseling and psychotherapy.
- Five years of work-related experience.
- Some work experience with counseling center administration.

Desired Qualifications
-Training and supervisory experience.
-Licensed as a Psychologist.
