The University of the South, popularly known as Sewanee, invites applications for the position of Assistant University Counselor/Staff Psychologist. This is a regular ten month staff position.
Responsibilities of this position will include: providing a full range of clinical and adjustment counseling services to university students; education, prevention, and consultation services; and after-hours emergency services. In addition to general clinical responsibilities, the successful applicant will coordinate and provide treatment addressing sexual assault, eating disorders, and women’s mental health issues. He or she will coordinate campus wide education and prevention programs related to these topics. Opportunities to teach in the Psychology Department may be available.
A completed doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology or related field and completion of an APA accredited internship are highly preferred.
Other preferred qualifications include training and experience at a university or college counseling center. The ideal candidate will be seeking a position that allows him or her to grow in broad-based clinical ability and experience while also developing a specialty with selected disorders. Supervision leading to licensure in Tennessee as a Health Service Provider is provided.
