The University Counseling Center at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking an experienced Counselor with generalist skills to provide brief therapy, assessment, academic skills counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, outreach programming, and supervision of counseling trainees. Providing counseling to students with academic concerns will be a primary focus of this position. Our Counseling Center offers a collaborative working environment and a staff with diverse interests and areas of expertise. We are dedicated to providing services which promote student personal and academic development and success.
Masters degree in counseling or psychology field.
Licensure or license eligible as a counselor in the state of Texas.
Minimum of two years of full-time (post-masters degree) professional counseling experience with adults in an outpatient setting.
Effective therapist with generalist clinical skills and demonstrated experience assessing and intervening with a range of clinical issues.
Demonstrated competency in providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, educational programming and clinical supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills including strong oral, written and listening communication skills.
Ability to relate effectively to students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Multicultural awareness and competency.
Knowledge of professional and ethical guidelines.
Competent in use of DSM-IV.
Three (3) or more years of full-time professional counseling experience with adults in an outpatient setting.
Current licensure as a counselor in the state of Texas.
Experience providing counseling services as a professional staff member in a university counseling center.
Experience in assessment and intervention of individuals with serious mental health concerns.
Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering dynamic educational/outreach programs.
Experience providing academic skills counseling services in a university setting.
Knowledge and experience with computer technology, social media, and web based technology.
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records systems
Experience providing clinical supervision to masters level counseling trainees.
