Counselor (Part Time)
$40/ per hour
Responsibilities include individual, couples and group counseling; crisis intervention services; assessment; consultation; outreach services and consultation with faculty and staff on issues relevant to student educational performance and emotional well being.
This position is currently designed for 16 hours a week during the academic year.
The Counselor will work independently scheduling their own ongoing client caseload and accepting all clients assigned except when there is a clear conflict of interest or the client has a problem beyond the scope of their practice.
The Counselor will do intakes, assessments and provide ongoing counseling; maintain the files of all clients; make appropriate referrals to the consulting psychiatrist; write psychiatric referrals for the psychiatrist; schedule up to 12 hours of direct service; participate in weekly case supervision; provide crisis counseling as needed; provide consultation
to students, student affairs staff and faculty.
The Counselor will assist in administrative duties and outreach programs as assigned.
Qualifications: MSW or equivalent degree, licensed to practice in the state of NJ, five years post graduate experience, three years in college counseling. Experience working with a variety of clinical problems including eating disorders, substance abuse and mood disorders to diverse populations such as students of color, international students, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender students as well as non-traditional students. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, have a strong background in multicultural issues and offer a positive presence to students and staff. The candidate must be computer literate
Experience with electronic record keeping is desirable.
