Position Description
The Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) at the University of Delaware seeks two psychologists for full-time, 12-month, career ladder positions. The successful candidates will be generalists with demonstrated skills and experience in providing individual and group counseling in a college setting. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with skills in training/supervision, outreach, and consultation.

Minimum Qualifications
Completed doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology, with an internship in a college or university counseling center. Applicants must have demonstrated experience in college counseling, excellent clinical skills, sensitivity to diversity, and a commitment to student life campus involvement. Successful completion of a background check required

Desired Qualifications
Satisfactory completion of a postdoctoral fellowship or relevant post-degree experience in a college or university counseling center. Currently licensed or license eligible as a psychologist. Significant experience in the multiple functions of a comprehensive counseling center as well as interest and experience in utilizing a brief therapy model, crisis intervention, and work with more complex cases.

University Description
The University of Delaware is a State assisted institution, offering courses in a broad range of disciplines, including three associate’s programs, 147 bachelor’s programs, 119 master’s programs, 54 doctoral programs, and 12 dual graduate programs. Fall 2011 enrollment totaled 21,489 which include 17,092 undergraduates, 3,617 graduate students, and 780 professional and continuing studies students.

First semeter begins in September, the second in February; a five-week winter session intervenes. There are two summer sessions of five weeks each and one of seven and one-half weeks duration.

Region Description
The University is in Newark, a pleasant community of about 30,000. It is 14 miles from Wilmington, Delaware’s largest city and halfway between New York and Washington, D.C. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is a one-hour drive to the north and Baltimore, Maryland, one hour to the south. Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland ocean beaches are less than two hours drive; the mountains of Maryland and Pennsylvania, which each offer four-season activities including boating, hiking, fishing, and skiing, are within a few hours drive from campus.
