Position Description
Provides leadership for counseling services
Oversees the activities of counseling services and staff, including psychotherapy, outreach, consultation, and preventive mental health activities
Maintains a caseload of crisis intervention and individual and group counseling assignments
Educates the university community about how to help students in distress
Conducts needs assessment research to help identify and address the opportunities to improve counseling services and address additional student needs
Prepares and monitors departmental budget
Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a master’s degree
Moderate amount of experience working in college counseling services with a diverse population or other related experience
Clinical license for the State of Rhode Island
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree or greater (doctorate)in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field of study
Clinical license for the State of Rhode Island
