The Counseling and Psychological Services at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for our Associate/Clinical Director position. In addition to administrative duties, the job also includes: providing individual, couples and group counseling, intake assessment; crisis intervention, campus consultation, outreach programs, clinical supervision; professional training and teaching, scholarly activities (professional presentations, leadership, and research) and performing administrative and committee responsibilities as required. Special consideration will be paid to the generalist that also has skill sets in alcohol and other drugs, eating disorders and multicultural interventions.
The Associate Director, Counseling Center will provide services licensed under Chapter, 490, Florida Statute, to include individual, couples, and group counseling and psychotherapy; diagnose and treat a wide range of psychological and behavior problems presented by students at the University Counseling Center.
Additionally candidates will serve as the Associate Director of Counseling and Psychological services. These duties will include directing the clinical services delivered on all campuses, assuming all leadership and supervisory roles with clinical services and assuming all leadership roles in the absence of the Director. Assist the Counseling and Psychological Services Director in formulating policies requiring expertise and knowledge in clinical psychology and University counseling center functioning; diagnose and treat a wide range of psychological and behavior problems presented by students at the University Counseling and Psychological Services center.
Candidates must have a Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program, which includes one year of supervised internship experience in professional psychology in an APA approved pre doctoral internship. Must be currently licensed. A minimum of 5 years of experience (including internship) in a university counseling center is required. He/She must be currently licensed in any state and will be required to obtain a Florida license in accordance with Chapter 490, F.S., within the first year of employment.
Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations and to provide related supervision, training, and consultation to staff and faculty on as needed basis.
Strong communication, critical thinking and organizational skills required to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and clinical delivery systems for the agency.
