Position Description
The University of Central Florida is currently seeking a Director of Counseling and Psychological Services which is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position and is located in Student Development and Enrollment Services.
General Responsibilities:
The Director of Counseling and Psychological Services has delegated authority and responsibility for the overall administrative supervision of the CAPS. The director provides counseling/therapy supervision to all staff and interns while providing psychotherapy to students on an as needed basis. This position is designated as essential to the operations of the university, and the individual holding this position is designated as essential personnel and is expected to respond, as directed by appropriate supervisory authority, to emergency or operation situations. The director will articulate unit, division and university mission and goals while collaborating with others.
Administration:
The director will provide visionary leadership to the center including managing the daily operations of the facility, supervising the staff, establishing operating policies and procedures, monitoring the annual budget (in excess of 2.1 million including salary and benefits), and preparing all required reports. The director will be responsible for collaborating with key university and external constituencies, including staff in the Health Center, Housing and Residence Life, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Wellness and Health Promotions Services, SDES, regional campuses and faculty to build relationships for outreach, education, and service. The director develops and revises publications and web sites within CAPS purview and assists in the development and revision of publications for SDES. The director develops and recommends policy for CAPS to the Associate Vice President.

Program Coordination:
The director develops and initiates (and/or assists, motivates, and cooperates with staff on program direction and development) programs in counseling and personal development for the students of the university. The director will supervise the staff development program for CAPS staff and interns while conducting training seminars for other groups such as academic advisors, university faculty staff, and students, and other appropriate individuals. The director will supervise the implementation of a new pre-doctoral internship program along with the current master’s level internship program for both mental health and social work students.

The director will perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of SDES.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be licensed as a psychologist and meet requirements as established by the American Psychological Association, which includes a doctoral degree and a supervised practicum experience.

Desired Qualifications
Preferences:
Three to five years’ experience in a supervisory role at the level of assistant director or above, preferable at a large university. Demonstrated experience in the area of financial and personnel management, visionary leadership, and programmatic initiatives. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Experience with IACS accreditation and administration of a pre-doctoral internship are highly desirable. The successful candidate must pass a background screening and be able to obtain licensure in Florida.
