The Director of UCC, a senior member of the UHS staff, reports to the Vice Provost and
Director, UHS and provides leadership, direct patient service, supervision of trainees at all levels
including pre-doctoral interns, and consultation to faculty and staff regarding provision of counseling
and mental health services to meet the needs of the students of the University of Rochester.
• Provides leadership for University Counseling Center clinical activities to meet the counseling
and mental health needs of the students of the University of Rochester.
• Provides direct mental healthcare services to students and staff according to training, experience
and privileges granted.
• Supervises clinical trainees in the delivery of patient care services. Plans and participates in
educational programs for staff and trainees.
• Coordinates UCC administrative functions including management of policies and procedures,
budgeting, compliance with rules and regulations, administrative evaluations of student mental
health and staffing to support the UCC mission.
• Participates in UHS program leadership, strategic planning and operations through service on
Leadership Team and on other committees as appropriate.
Provides leadership in continuing AAAHC accreditation readiness activities, including
performance improvement teams, quality assurance, incident review and peer review activities.
• Provides after-hours support for on-call coverage and leadership for any major campus mental
health crisis response.
• Collaborates with other units of UHS as needed concerning mental health care. Serves as liaison
to other UR agencies and organizations as necessary, including offices that provide ADA-related
services to students.
• Participates in School of Medicine and Dentistry and Department of Clinical and Social
Psychology teaching, educational activities, research and committee work as appropriate
The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree from an APA accredited program in counseling or
clinical psychology, or MD/DO with training in Psychiatry; New York State license in relevant
discipline or license eligible; Five to seven years of post-degree counseling experience primarily in an
ethnically diverse college-aged population. Administrative experience in general management, staff
supervision, training, policy development, strategic planning, and evaluation preferred, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Eligibility for appointment to a faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of
Psychology, the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry required.
