The Roosevelt University Counseling Center Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for a psychology doctoral graduate who is seeking advanced training in university or college counseling center work. The position is full time (40 hours/week) for one calendar year. The start date is in early August. The clinical duties include: providing individual (both short-term and long-term), couples and group counseling; initial intake interviews; crisis intervention; case management; consultation and outreach with students, faculty, staff and parents; possible supervision of practicum students; and other duties as assigned. The Fellow will spend at least 60% of her or his time providing clinical services.
In addition, the Fellow will be provide other non-clinical services such as outreach programming and consultation to the Roosevelt University student, staff, and faculty community on a regular basis. Outreach and consultation are a critical educational and networking component of The Counseling Center program and postdoctoral experience. These responsibilities vary widely throughout the year, but may include presentations to the Roosevelt community, writing articles for the Illuminations Newsletter, and assisting with outreach events as well as planning and implementing your own outreach events.
The Fellowship is designed to provide both generalist training and specialized experience working with a diverse population of university students regarding a range of mental health and developmental concerns. In addition, the Fellow will have the opportunity to act in a leadership role in one or more areas of service, specifically outreach, training, and/or general Center administration.
