Position Description
Individual, couple, family, and group counseling with students, faculty, staff, and eligible dependents; assessment; crisis intervention; outreach and consultation; supervision of graduate students from a variety of professional training programs; programmatically relevant research; and development of a specialty area of practice with a particular issue or clientele. We are strongly interested in candidates who can increase our visibility and credibility within the diverse community that is the University of Arkansas student body.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters in counselor education (CACREP accreditation doctorate preferred), doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (APA accreditation preferred), or closely related discipline; or MSW from accredited social work program. Within 18 months of hire, must secure licensure in Arkansas for independent practice in one�s discipline. Must demonstrate clinical and outreach experience with a diverse population of students.
Desired Qualifications
Preferred are candidates who are bi-lingual. Also desirable is interest and expertise in substance abuse treatment. Prefer university counseling center experience.
University Description
Counseling & Psychological Services is the primary counseling center for the Fayetteville campus of the University of Arkansas. The multicultural, multidisciplinary staff includes an office manager and three other office professionals, seven full-time clinicians, a case manager, the associate director, the director, two psychiatrists, a nurse, and typically four half-time graduate trainees. CAPS is a department of the Pat Walker Health Center. The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville is the flagship campus of the UA system and has an enrollment of approximately 24,500 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
