Position Description
Under the general supervision of the Student Health & Psychological Counseling Center Director, the incumbent will be responsible for providing direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments and treatment for patients referred by clinicians in the Student Health and Psychological Counseling Center. The incumbent will be part of the multidisciplinary team (including physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, counselors, pharmacists, nurses, and health educators) and will also participate in mental health case conferences, advising and making recommendations for the students; overall treatment plans and contributing to administrative issues for the center. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining client records in accordance with established policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned within the scope of psychiatric practice. Fingerprinting is a requirement of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a valid license to practice medicine/psychiatry in the State of California along with one or more years experience working in a college mental health setting and/or teaching at the college or post-graduate level. Applicants must have a strong working knowledge in working with a diverse student population at a public university, along with a solid base of knowledge and understanding of the mental health needs of college students. Some experience with substance abuse and dual diagnosis assessment and treatment required.
