The University of South Carolina Student Health Services Counseling & Human Development Center is currently accepting applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship in professional psychology. The position is a 12-month term appointment beginning August 1st, 2013 and ending July 31st, 2014.
The position is responsible for providing advanced psychotherapeutic and counseling services to members of the university community in a multi-disciplinary and supportive counseling center. Office space is located in the counseling center, and clinical supervision is provided by a licensed psychologist on staff with the Counseling and Human Development Center.
The position entails carrying a clinical caseload in the Counseling and Human Development Center as well as providing mental health consultation, outreach and educational programming to the USC Campus Community. This position responds to campus-related crises with support from members of the CHDC and provides after-hours consultation to the USC Campus Community.
On-campus housing is provided for the individual in this position in a two-bedroom, brick townhouse with hardwood floors and a small yard. Housing includes utilities (electricity, water, waste disposal, and telephone), and small pets are allowed.
This position is organizationally located under the administration of the Counseling and Human Development Center and Student Health Services with administrative input from the Director of Residence Life.
The position requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA accredited program and a completed APA Accredited Doctoral Internship. The incumbent must reside in provided housing.
Successful candidates will demonstrate characteristics that include being self motivated, a strong team player capable of working within a multidisciplinary group, and a demonstrated history of showing initiative and leadership. Candidates should have strong clinical skills along with strong presentation, public speaking, and communication skills.
