Position Description
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Health and Wellness, the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of mental health care for the entire Student Health and
Counseling Services program and for all mental health staff activities. These responsibilities include all aspects of supervision for mental health clinical care, including doctoral and masters level psychotherapy and psychiatry
care, outreach and consultation services, professional and peer education programs, clinical quality management and risk management, behavioral health research, continuing education and professional development, and pre-doctoral and post-doctoral education activities.

Serves in a leadership role as campus mental health advisor on student psychological health and safety issues relating to creation and promotion of healthy campus environments and illness prevention, disaster planning and emergency preparedness. As a member of the Student Affairs Leadership team (SALT) and the Campus Student Crisis Response Team (SCRT) serves as principle liaison to campus and divisional leadership regarding collective and individual student mental health care issues. Serves as principal liaison to University leadership, and the county, state and regional mental health community to assure integrated mental health services and coordinated consultative services, as well as emergency and tertiary mental health care services for students. Serves as a principle mental health advisor to student insurance plans and Student Health and Counseling Services advisory
committees.

As a member of the Student Health and Counseling Services senior management team, participates in the development and implementation of the overall strategic plan and key policy provisions for the organization. As a member of the psychology staff, participates in the comprehensive mental health activities of the program.


Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Psychology.

Licensed as a Psychologist. If licensed in a state other than California, must obtain CA license within 1 year from date of hire.

Experience and knowledge with mental health clinic/counseling center administration.

Experience working in an environment that requires regular communication using interpersonal skills that create and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple senior administrators and a diverse range of campus and community constituents.

Experience taking initiative and providing leadership. Leadership skills to inspire confidence and motivate and guide.

Experience in the management of financial resources and budgetary planning. Analytical skills to make sound judgment and be accountable for decisions.

Experience and skill in the analysis of complex information or problems in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities and selecting appropriate courses of action.

Organizational experience, including skill to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines and to establish goals and workload priorities.

Desired Qualifications
Experience managing community based mental health prevention and wellness services for a culturally diverse population.

Experience directing a campus based mental health service.

Experience Directing mental health services in a collaborative Medical/Mental Health program model.

Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Health Records system.

Experience consulting with University leadership on matters of mental health and wellness.

Region Description
Davis is located in the northern portion of the Central Valley in Northern California, 72 miles northeast of San Francisco and 11 miles west of Sacramento.
