The CAPS Assistant Director for Practicum Training supports the Associate Director for Clinical Training to establish and maintain the "culture of training" in a broad based University mental healthcare setting. The Assistant Director for Practicum Training offers resources, information, and mentors staff in their clinical training functions. Coordinates the practicum training programs for all of CAPS. Responsible for recruitment, interview, orientation, supervision and evaluation of all CAPS practicum students --this may include and is not limited to pre-doctoral applied psychology candidates, social work trainees and candidates in the master’s degree program in student affairs. Compiles and maintains all practicum seminar curricula, policies/procedures and clinical practice guidelines for trainees at the practicum level. Offers clinical supervision and leads supervision group(s) for CAPS trainees. Functions as a staff psychologist to offer direct clinical care for University students including triage, emergent, urgent and routine clinical functions. Offers community based consultation and intervention for University students.
Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology or related field. Licensed Psychologist. Demonstrated experience and skill in work with diverse clinical population. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in outpatient clinical setting with a range of psychopathology. Significant experience in offering clinical supervision and conceptualizing learning needs and goals of trainees. Demonstrated knowledge, skill and awareness about mental health work in a multicultural context. Significant experience and comfort level with teaching, public speaking, and experience in working with University students in an outpatient mental health setting. Demonstrated interest and skill in work with evidence based clinical intervention strategies.
Prefer skill/experience with electronic health record(s).
