The Multicultural Postdoctoral Residency begins mid-August, 2013. The 1500 hour residency (9 months) ends in late May, 2014. 2000 hours are possible for interested candidates, however no additional stipend is available. The position is only open to individuals who are completing hours toward receiving a doctoral-level license to practice psychology. A postdoctoral resident will be expected to perform all the duties of a generalist clinician in a comprehensive multicultural university counseling center and will receive supervision according to the State of California Board of Psychology guidelines. Duties include but are not limited to: short-term individual, group, and couples counseling; possible supervision of practicum students; co-leading didactic trainings for practicum counselors and pre-doctoral interns, counseling assessment and referral; crisis intervention; consultation with students, faculty, staff, and parents; and developing campus outreach activities for a target population (e.g., International students, Menís issues, students who identify with a specific religious group, students with disabilities, LGBT Resource Center, Cross-cultural center).
Multicultural Postdoctoral Residents choose an area of focus related to diversity or multiculturalism and build experience related to this topic throughout the training year. Applicants are required to identify a possible area of emphasis in their application cover letter.

Postdoctoral residents will attend numerous training seminars (e.g., diversity process group, the provision of group therapy, social justice and outreach seminar, supervision of supervision, EPPP preparation). Applicants must have completed a Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited educational institution and a minimum of 1500 pre-doctoral internship hours in a formal psychology internship setting. Applicants must be eligible to receive a license to practice psychology by the end of the postdoctoral year. Individuals who have already met licensing board requirements for postdoctoral supervised experience or whom have already obtained a license to practice psychology at the doctoral level are not eligible to apply. Preference is given to applicants who have experience in working with an ethnically, or otherwise diverse student population and whom have experience in college mental health. Applicants must state a desired area of emphasis for the Multicultural Emphasis Area in their application cover letter.

- Experience and interest in working with diverse student populations.
- Experience conducting group therapy and outreach presentations or workshops.
