Mental Health Counselor
Health and Counseling Services
Under the direction of the Director of Counseling Services, the Mental Health Counselor will provide short-term counseling to students on a variety of issues, impacting the student’s academic success or quality of life.
-Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Provide short-term counseling to students on a variety of issues impacting the student’s academic success or quality of life.
-Maintain relationships with outside resources in order to facilitate appropriate referrals for students as needed.
-Provide on-call response in the absence of the Director of Counseling Services.
-Complete appropriate clinical documentation on all client contacts.
-Maintain and submit necessary information for monthly statistical reports.
-Assist in the design and implementation of issue-based/outreach education programs.
-Assist in the delivery of group counseling services as needed.
-Participate on campus committees/boards as requested.
-Participate in weekly or bi-monthly supervisory meeting with Director of Counseling Services.
-Provide consultative functions with established campus groups.
-Provide other assigned functions, as determined by the Director of Counseling Services that contribute to the service offerings of the center and mission of the University.
-Provide on-call services.
Minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., Social Work or Counseling Psychology) with 3 years clinical experience. College counseling experience highly preferred. CADC Preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in the areas of short-term counseling, crisis intervention, program development, consultation and outreach. In addition, the Mental Health Counselor must exhibit personal attributes that enable him/her to facilitate respectful interpersonal relationships. Must hold appropriate state licensure and malpractice insurance.
College counseling experience highly preferred.
