Staff Psychologist or Social Worker

The Skidmore College Counseling Center invites applications for a Staff Psychologist/Social Worker position. This is a regular, full-time, 11 month appointment with a start date as soon as possible. The position involves providing short-term (8 session limit) psychotherapy; crisis intervention, including rotation in after-hours on-call coverage; psycho-educational programming; consultation to faculty, staff, and parents; leading at least one psychotherapy or support group per year; and participation in the Center’s multidisciplinary treatment team, as well as the larger division of Student Affairs. The successful applicant will also be involved in training the college’s Residential Life staff, and will have an opportunity to provide supervision to practicum trainees.
Candidates should possess a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a Master’s in Social Work; have completed a supervised internship; be licensed or license-eligible within 2 years as a psychologist or LCSW in New York State; have strong diagnostic and clinical skills as well as experience in working with a broad array of psychological, emotional, and developmental concerns; have experience in working with a traditional college-aged population; and have a demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations including students of color, international students, and GLBTQ students.
Expertise in working with eating disorders or substance abuse is not required, but would be a plus.
