Position Description
The College of New Rochelle has an immediate opening and is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Director of Counseling and Health Services. This is a 12-month, professional staff position reporting to the Dean of Students. The Director will routinely work with academic administrators and faculty, external social services agencies, students, parents, and Student Services Division staff. Counseling and Health Services is committed to supporting student development and positively impacting the campus community by providing multi-culturally skilled counseling, consultation, health, disability, and outreach services to a diverse student population.
The Director provides visionary leadership, clinical supervision, and support to a team of professionals, graduate trainees and support staff; coordinates and collaborates with internal and external partners in our campus communities to ensure efficient, comprehensive and high quality services and programs; and is responsible for administering effective and efficient student services through engagement in systemic planning grounded in best practices and qualitative and quantitative assessment. The successful candidate must be a seasoned professional experienced in program development who is committed to the highest standards of professional ethics and personal integrity.
Major responsibilities include: carrying out clinical responsibilities including individual and group counseling, evaluation, crisis assessment and intervention, training and professional development of staff, consultation, follow-up and referral; providing outreach to all campuses and collaborating with various departments to recognize and process student counseling, health and disability service needs; establishing and maintaining partnerships with health care and social service agencies in campus communities, including hospitals, clinics and private providers, and initiating and overseeing contractual agreements with community partners for specialty professional services, and insuring institutional compliance with governmental mandates (including ADA, FERPA, HEOA, Title IX) as they pertain to college counseling, health and disability services.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications include a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology; NYS licenses; and 5-7 years of experience in a clinical and/or counseling setting. In addition, s/he must demonstrate critical problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively interface with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and community providers; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
Professional higher education experience is strongly preferred.
