Position Description
The University of Southern Indiana invites applicants for a part-time counselor in the Counseling Center (2 days/week during fall and spring semesters). Under the supervision of the Counseling Center Director, this individual evaluates mental, emotional and behavioral health; provides therapy/counseling on an individual and/or group basis; documents all clinical contacts and services; and provides other services designed to assist with the personal, educational and life-direction development of students. Successful applicants will work from a time-limited model of psychotherapy and will be able to maintain a full caseload (determined in conjunction with the Director). M.A. or M.S. in counseling, psychology, social work or other related human services area is required. Must be licensed, in good standing, as a psychologist, social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist in the state of Indiana. Must have training as a generalist, but will also have developed specialized skills for working with certain populations or presenting concerns. Special skills and experience relevant to substance abuse, group therapy, and/or diversity is strongly desired. Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work as part of a diverse team is required. Experience in a university/college counseling center is strongly preferred.
