Position Description
The post-doctoral fellowship is designed for graduates of a doctoral psychology program who are seeking licensure and are interested in providing services in a university setting. The majority of the fellow’s time will be spent delivering clinical services, with the remaining time involved in outreach, consultation, prevention programming, receiving and providing supervision, and other clinic activities.

The fellow is expected to provide individual and group counseling services as well as intake assessments, career counseling in collaboration with Career Services, crisis intervention, on-call services, educational presentations, prevention programming, training and supervision activities, outreach, consultation, and other administrative activities in which the staff participates. Rotations with the university’s inter-departmental Behavioral Intervention Team and Student Health Center may be available, as well as opportunities to concentrate in providing services to diverse populations. The fellow has the opportunity to be a member of Counseling & Testing Center committees as well as other university-wide committees. Fellows receive one hour of individual clinical supervision per week, one hour of group case consultation per week, and one hour of staff training per week.

Minimum Qualifications
Strong preference will be given to those applicants who have completed all requirements for a doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology prior to the fellowship start date. Applicants who are all but dissertation (ABD) may be considered. A completed pre-doctoral internship is required. Qualified candidates should have strong clinical skills in the areas of treatment, assessment, and crisis intervention. Some experience in a college/university counseling center is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with mood disorders, AODA issues, eating disorders, ADHD and/or conduct issues. There are two post-doctoral vacancies. Each fellowship position carries a stipend of $20,000 with medical benefits.

University Description
The UW-L Counseling & Testing Center is unique. We offer comprehensive counseling services and work closely with the campus Student Health Center to offer medical and psychiatric services, as appropriate. Our testing services include national testing programs (e.g., ACT, LSAT, Wisconsin System Placement Test) and computer-based testing that is offered to UW-L students and local community members. Additionally, counseling center staff provides limited psychological testing and interpretation for clients and groups. The Counseling & Testing Center also offers workshops and individual sessions focusing on academic skills such as note taking, text book study, test preparation, managing test anxiety, test taking skills, vocabulary, and speed reading. The full range of clinical, training, and developmental services are provided to both undergraduate and graduate students at UW-L. The Counseling & Testing Center focuses on providing effective short-term therapy; however, selected longer-term cases may be available to fellows.
