Position Description
The successful candidate will provide individual and group counseling, assessment and referral services, crisis intervention, consultation, evaluation and support services. Outreach programming focused on developmental issues and prevention is also included in the position. The professional in this position will provide consultation to university administrators, faculty, staff, campus organizations and parents. Training and clinical supervision, as appropriate, are also included in the duties. Continuing education and professional development activities are expected. This individual may serve as a coordinator of a specific center programming area or as designated liaison to campus groups and may serve on committees and task groups. This person may also initiate involuntary examination procedures as allowed by law.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker by the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 491 (Florida Statutes).
Desired Qualifications
Preferences in one or more of the following:
1. Strong experience in initial clinical assessment and crisis intervention.
2. Experience in assessment and referral services, consultation, evaluation, case management and outreach.
3. Experience working in a collaborative manner with campus and/or community partners.
4. Experience and interest in assessment, treatment, prevention and education in one or more of the following areas: substance abuse, eating disorders, and/or sexual trauma.
5. Individual will provide clinical supervision and training for students in clinical training program.
6. Interest and experience in individual, couples and group counseling.
7. Additional preferred areas of specialization include clinical experience and expertise in:
a. Students w/ disabilities
b. Autism spectrum disorders (autism/aspergers)
c. Animal assisted and/or pet therapy
d. Multicultural competency working with individuals from diverse backgrounds (LGBTQI particularly experience with transgender and/or gender non-conforming, Native American, Middle Eastern/Middle-Eastern American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, African American, Latino/a
e. Students in the military and/or returning student veterans, veterans disorders
University Description
The University of Central Florida is a metropolitan research university with an enrollment of over 56,000 students. UCF is the third largest university in the United States, experiencing unprecedented growth in recent years. The Counseling Center is housed in a very attractive and welcoming facility equipped with very ample technology supported by a full time technology support professional. The Center has an active program of prevention and outreach, and joint efforts are in place, with others on the drawing board, that connect the Center with other departments and professionals on campus who are concerned about health, wellness and alcohol and other drug prevention, among others. The
