Position Description
Cornell University Health Services Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), is seeking a full time 10 month Counselor/Therapist with demonstrated clinical and outreach experience working in college counseling. We are also interested in counselors who have experiences specifically working with underrepresented minority populations.
CAPS is a large (35+ staff) multidisciplinary service with primary responsibility for the mental health of the Cornell University community. CAPS provides services to approximately 3,000 students per year for approximately 23,000 visits as part of an integrated health service that takes a community- based approach.
Responsibilities include individual and group psychotherapy, providing outreach services as well as consultation with faculty, staff, and parents regarding student mental health issues. We are interested in professionals who would provide strong clinical services and continue our innovative partnerships with diverse communities, as well as increasing the diversity of our staff.
Minimum Qualifications
LMSW or equivalent; Doctorate but unlicensed Psychologist (expectation to obtain licensure within 3 years of hire). 1-2 years experience preferably in a community or college health center environment. The successful candidate will be team-oriented, accessible to students and student support staff, equipped to address multicultural issues, possess a strong work ethic, offer a positive presence to students and staff, and possess a willingness to collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary health care setting.
