Position Description
Georgetown University has an opening for a full-time position for an LBGTQ specialist in its college mental health service, commencing Fall 2012. The position entails assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, referrals where needed, and outreach and consultation to the campus community. We are interested in finding a clinical or counseling psychologist who is skilled in dealing with sexual minority issues, competent in identifying and addressing related health concerns, who can help enhance the relationship between our counseling service and the LGBTQ Resource Office (as well as other student affairs departments), and who can also function as a generalist.

We are looking for someone who shows flexibility to adapt to changing work demands, comfort with a fast-paced environment, a strong work ethic, a congenial and collaborative working style, a readiness to address multicultural issues, and a strong capacity for outreach.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in psychology (or related field) and licensure or eligibility in the District of Columbia, plus demonstrated experience in the area of sexual minority issues (lesbian, gay, bisexual, questioning, and transgender concerns).

Desired Qualifications
Previous college mental health experience.

It has an excellent public transportation system.

The Georgetown business district is a bustling center of activity with substantial shopping opportunities, restaurants, clubs, and an active waterfront. The Georgetown residential area near the University retains an 18th and 19th century charm with old-fashioned townhouses and brick sidewalks.

Historically, Georgetown was a thriving Maryland tobacco port in the 1700’s. When the District of Columbia was carved out of Maryland and Virginia, Georgetown was included within the District’s boundaries. The City of Washington, a separate village within the District, grew into and annexed Georgetown in the 1800’s.

Washington, D.C., is about two hours from Atlantic coast beaches and about two hours from the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia.
