The Staff Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist is under the general supervision of the Director of the Counseling Center. This individual would play a critical role in supporting university and Counseling Center outreach efforts promoting diversity awareness and appreciation, including but not limited to presenting on topics such as ethnic/racial differences, sexual orientation, social economic class, and gender. In addition to the duties noted above, this position regularly includes: intakes, individual, couples, group, and crisis intervention counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, and vocational difficulties; clinical supervision of interns and/or practicum students as appropriate and assigned; supervision of psychological assessment; and outreach to the campus community. On a less regular basis, the position also includes consultation with faculty, staff and students.

Involvement in local, state, regional and national professional organizations, including attendance and presentation of programs and workshops, as negotiated with the Director, is also encouraged.
To qualify for the Staff Psychologist position, candidates must have a doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology and eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in Texas. Licensed Psychologist applicants must have a current psychology license and become licensed as a psychologist in Texas within 12 months of obtaining the position (if licensure is held in another state).
Counseling Center experience and an active commitment to college counseling services and a strong commitment to multicultural and women’s issues is preferred. A preference will also be given to candidates who have some experience with diversity programming and training, supervision of practicum students or interns, knowledge of psychological assessment, 1-2 years of counseling center experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
