Salary Range

Position Description
-Provide age appropriate, time limited, interventions, counseling services, crisis intervention, acute, chronic (within the scope of service), and preventive care for substance abuse problems or substance abuse problems with co-morbid psychological conditions to students and eligible members of the University community. Based on the presenting concern, clinical interview, and subjective questionnaires, synthesizes objective and subjective data to formulate a conceptualization of the clientís diagnoses, primary problem, and basic plan for appropriate intervention or care.
-Provide referrals for formal psychological assessment based on the presenting concern when needed. Make internal and external referrals as indicated following practice guidelines and CAPS scope of service. Use policies and procedures for tracking to ensure the referral process is successful, to the extent possible and based on client cooperation. Establish collaborative working relationships that involve both the initiation and monitoring of an individualized intervention or treatment plan. Follow professional and organizational standards to document in the electronic health record.
-Provide consultation to faculty/staff, student, and family members of students about alcohol and other substance abuse or misuse as well as substance related problems that present with concurrent psychological conditions.
-Work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team including: involvement in performance improvement initiatives; provide input toward constructive solutions to work-place challenges; actively participating in required meetings; show respect for internal and external customers and; demonstrate sensitivity and appreciation of individualís cultural diversity and individuality.
-Obtain continuing education as required by law to maintain licensure/certification. Recognize that changes in the population will entail changes in duties and work expectations.
-Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
-Two years experience in the evaluation, application interventions and/or treatment of individuals for substance use or abuse whose age and psychological development are similar to those of our population within the area of substance use, abuse or dependence.
-Two years experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development are similar to those of our population on a range of psychological condition typically seen in the college or university population.
-Experience and/or interest in preventive education and outreach programs
-LCSW,LPC, or equivalent.


Desired Qualifications
-Certified Addition Counselor II, experience working in a University setting
-Experience conducting screening/triage, experience working with traditionally underserved students (culturally diverse students), including experience providing services to students for whom English is a second language
-Experience using an electronic health record
-Experience working in a setting involved in the training and supervision of students in training or post-graduate professionals
