Position Description
The Syracuse University Counseling Center is seeking a full-time, 11 month Associate Director for AOD services (Options Program). The Options program consists of two full time AOD Counselors, a part-time graduate assistant, and the Associate Director. The Associate Director will report directly to the Counseling Center Director and will be responsible for administrative leadership for the various alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and intervention services. Specific responsibilites include assisting in the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the prevention/reduction of alcohol and other drug use, implementation of evidence based models for behavior change and recovery, program evaluation, and clinical supervision of Options Counselors. While this is primarily an administrative position, there will be some responsibility for provision of direct clinical servcies including assessments and substance abuse interventions. The projected start date for this position is January 11, 2010.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in counseling or clinical psychology or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in social work, counseling or related field. CASAC preferred, but not required.

Desired Qualifications
Minimum five years experience providing services to substance abusing populations. Experience providing services to a mandated client population. Experience and comfort working within a harm reduction model. Prior experience with community coalition building, environmental management strategies, and/or social norms marketing campaigns. Strong critical thinking and relationship building skills.
