Center for Counseling & Student Development

The Director of the Center for Counseling & Student Development is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the counseling center. The director is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures and programs; providing clinical services to students, including individual and group therapy, psychological assessment, and rotation of a 24-hour crisis intervention service; assessing student population needs; supervising and evaluating clinical services delivered by staff which consists of licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors; maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and university administrators; participating in division and college-wide committees and efforts to support and improve student and improve student life and retention; and performing other job-related duties. The director reports to the Director of the Student Health Service.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an accredited program. Licensure or licensure-eligible in the state of North Carolina. Minimum of 5-7 years in counseling in a college/university counseling center or similar setting. Demonstrated ability to provide vision, training, supervision, and leadership. Ability to communicate with diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience in administrative supervision preferred.
