The Head and Neck Surgery Team at the University of Kansas has
expertise in all aspects of head and neck surgery including salivary
gland(parotid and submandibular), thyroid, parathyroid disease
and the management of head and neck cancer. The regions only
multidisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Board meets regularly to
discuss new cancer patients and includes members from Head and
Neck Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiology,
Pathology and several ancillary staff to provide true comprehensive
management recommendations. The Head and Neck Surgery group also
represents the only dedicated Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery
Team in the region which completes 50 to 100 head and neck free
tissue transfer reconstructive procedures a year. The team also
has dedicated Speech Pathology and Audiology to facilitate in
the evaluation and rehabilitation of cancer patients. The full
spectrum of surgical procedures from minimally invasive Endoscopic
(or Transoral) Laser surgery to major tumor resection with microvascular
surgery reconstruction are available through the Head and Neck
