The Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program has just increased from three residents per year to four per year. Applications for our program are received through ERAS and selection through the Match. We do not require anything other than that required by ERAS for applications. Deadline for receipt of applications is November 1st.
We offer three dates for interviews. The first date is normally the third Friday in November. This date is reserved for KU graduates and others who have rotated on our service during their 3rd or 4th years of medical school. The second and third dates are either the second or third Saturday in December, and the second or third Saturday in January. Residents selected for interviews are notified by the middle of November.
The November interviews take place on Friday afternoon. All applicants have the opportunity to meet with faculty and residents. A "social hour" follows for applicants, fellows, and spouses/significant others at a nearby sports bar on the Country Club Plaza. Dress is casual.
The December and January interviews take place on Saturday morning. We meet in the lobby of KU Hospital at 7:45 a.m. Interviews begin at 8:00 a.m. and are completed by 12:00 noon. Applicants have the opportunity to talk with most (if not all) of our faculty, as well as residents from all PGY years. A tour of our facilities is also conducted. A "social hour" to meet residents and their spouses is held on the Friday evening before interviews at a nearby sports bar on the Country Club Plaza. Spouses or significant others are encouraged to attend along with the applicant. Dress is casual.
