The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Kansas University Medical Center has recently entered its second century of existence with a commitment to provide excellence to patients with comprehensive, world-class orthopedic care.

Our staff physicians are board certified and have fellowship training in the many subspecialties of orthopedics surgery including specialized care for foot and ankle, hand, microsurgery, oncology, hip and knee, sports medicine, spine, and pediatric patients.

In addition to treating patients, our physicians are researchers, actively engaged in clinical and basic research to improve the art of orthopedic surgery. They are also teachers, training orthopedic residents and medical students in the most advanced surgical techniques and in the fundamentals of quality patient care.

The vast resources of the medical center -- specialized imaging studies, advanced anesthesia and the broad spectrum of consulting services -- are fully utilized for the benefit and welfare of orthopedic patients.

What is Shoulder Repair?
Painful shoulder conditions that limit movement are common, and are caused by problems with the shoulder joint and its surrounding structures. The shoulder is more prone to injuries than other joints because of its wide range of movement.

There are several conditions that cause pain and limit movement of the shoulder joint, including:

    Frozen shoulder
    Dislocated shoulder and shoulder instability
    Arthritis
