Current rotations available for 3rd year student in the Eastern Region include: family medicine, ambulatory medicine/geriatrics, neuropsychiatry, and OB/GYN.

Housing and Meals

Housing is usually provided by the hospital in the host community. Meals are available in the hospital cafeteria at minimal charge. Some communities have houses or apartments for students. Specific arrangements and information will be given to the student prior to the clerkship rotation.

Computing Services

A student computer lab is available in the Rural Eastern Kansas Area Health Education Center located at 1501 S. Joplin, Shirk Hall, 4th Floor, Pittsburg.

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm M-F (Extended hours may be possible by appointment)

Video: Full ITV system (scheduled through Pittsburg State University)

Internet access in most communities is available either in the hospital or through the preceptor’s office as well as community libraries. Proxy access to Dykes library is available.
