Chairman's Welcome
Welcome and thank you for visiting the webpage of the Department of
Neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Our mission is to provide optimal neurosurgical care to the community
which we serve and to train physicians as neurosurgical specialists who
will become leaders in their field. These two goals are interdependent.
The department is also committed to the advancement of neurosurgery as
part of the neurosciences at the University of Kansas.
The department has changed over the past two years from being a division
of the Department of Surgery to an independent department of
Neurosurgery. We are expanding our clinical, educational, and research
activities and increasing the number of faculty neurosurgeons.
I expect that within five years our department will more than double in
size and within ten years will be one of the largest and best
neurosurgery departments and residency programs in the nation.
