The University of Kansas Department of Neurological Surgery

Neuro-Oncology

At the University of Kansas Department of Neurosurgery we have an active neuro-oncology program where we provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of brain and other central nervous system tumors. The Director of the program is Dr. Ania Pollack, a fellowship-trained skull base surgeon and neuro-oncologist

An integral part of the Neuro-Oncology Program is the KUMC Brain Tumor Board, which is a multi-disciplinary consortium of healthcare providers whose specialties include radiation oncology, medical oncology, neuro-radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery. Each week, new brain tumor patient cases are presented, and recommendations are made for the appropriate plan of treatment. The reviews typically include imaging studies (MRI, CT, and/or PET scans), pathology studies, lab results, as well as past medical and surgical history.
